While we have had our (new to us) 2015 Travel Trailer since the middle of March, the only way to make darn sure everything works is to actually take it out and *use* it. I was able to get reservations at the Santee Lakes Park, Preserve, and Campground from 1 PM, April 22nd, 2019 – 12 PM, April 26th in one of our favorite spaces last enjoyed in our old 5th wheel.
It is our tradition to have Philly Cheese Steak sandwiches with french fries and a small salad from “Giant Pizza King”, which is the closest chow outside the park. After setting up, I fly for the food while Heidi puts the finishing touches on our setup and takes care of the pup dog.
Having an abundance of caution, we pulled the trailer with our F-250 tow vehicle through El Cajon and Santee starting about 1400, far less traffic than moving through the lunch hour. After pulling our 30+ foot 5th wheel, this little travel trailer is a cinch. I will have no problems parking/backing/etc.
At this age, setup of a recreational vehicle is a challenge, but thanks to downsizing to this little travel trailer with far easier leveling – its still do-able and I love it!
This is the morning of April 23rd, time to get started with some frozen hash-brown patties for brunch. (To be honest, it is after 1100 so more like “Breakfast for Lunch). Oh, and beer for the cook to keep him happy so the food will be better. 😉
I had pre-heated the griddle, cleaned it with water and a wet rag, then oiled it and let the oil come up to temperature before putting down the patties.
From there, things went very fast indeed! I reheated a mess of left-over ham slices from our Easter Sunday Dinner with Heidi’s Mom, (didn’t get a picture), then rapidly cooked six scrambled eggs – man that was QUICK!
It was ready so quickly poor Heidi didn’t have time to clear the table – (we certainly made do though). 🙂
After lunch, went out and again cleaned the griddle, then lay down another coat of oil to protect the surface/seasoning. This thing is flat out working swell for us!
I am tickled to report, it only took about 24 hours for us to find that everything on our little Travel Trailer works perfectly. We are happy as we can be with the deal we made on it.
On Tuesday Evening, 23 April, we shifted from “Shakedown Cruise Mode” to “Spring Breakers” for the over 70 for lunch bunch!
