Adding a new Hood to the Blackstone Griddle

Please note: The work for this post actually occurred on April 11th, 2019.

That big chunk of cold-rolled steel is pretty heavy, and needs to be protected. Additionally, outdoors you have to deal with wind, something new to my grilling experience.

Ordered the new Hood from Amazon and it arrived the very next day.

1 day service from Amazon.

At about 1545, an Amazon delivery came in with our new metal hood for the Blackstone Griddle. Heidi knocked off working in the 5th wheel to help me install the hood. (Only 4 bolts/nuts, plus installing the handle).

Hood simply bolts to the back of the griddle with 4 nuts, washers and bolts.

It looks easy, but there is absolutely no way I could have done that without her help holding the hood up so I could insert a bolt from the rear, then get a nut on it from the inside.

With griddle plate installed, – the hood will help with wind.

Re-installed the griddle.. Hmm… I need to clean it and lay down another coat of oil.

Blackstone completely assembled with new hood.

Well, in my opinion it looks *very* good. Needing a protective hood over a griddle is a new experience for me v/s griddle – but yes – we are talking outdoor cooking here. Later, I added a pair of huge baking sheets out there to help with leveling the griddle, and protecting the burners from wind. 😉 You learn as you go.
