Gee – 2020 was going so swell, and then?

Shortly after the turn of the year, Heidi and I came to the conclusion that we would be leaving California and looking to set up our home elsewhere.  We had not decided “where”, but did know that Heidi wanted to complete the school year – she works as a Child Nutrition Specialist at the Child Nutrition Center, located in the city of El Cajon, for the Valley School District.  At our age, she only works part time, but absolutely loves her work, what it is about, and the people she has been working with over there for many years now.  We are in our 70’s though, and it is time for her to finally retire too.

We took on deciding the “where” part as a project – looking at places like Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Texas and Florida.  SouthWestern Florida finally won as that is where our Son and his family reside and, while we won’t be moving to the same town, we will be in that same area – able to visit and support one another.

After that, we started laying down some stronger plans, including scheduling a trip to take our F-250 and Travel Trailer across country to store them there, then fly back to SoCal – but those plans have been cancelled due to something initially called CoronaVirus and now referred to as CoVid-19.

It would appear the decision to cancel was wise, we had intended to start out in the first week of April while the kids were out on Spring Break, then fly back before school resumed.  Now, everyone across country are practicing Self-Quarantine and maintaining a good distance from others when force to actually go out.  All of our plans are on indefinite hold.  We will wait it out, and when this is all over will give it some more time, then see what has happened to the housing market and everything else before laying any more plans to pursue.

We are under no pressure to do anything – we are very comfortable in our current home of 32 years, (33 in August), and will pursue our “wants” when the time is right.  In the mean time, our “needs” have been met and life is good.
