Well, its about brunch time – we slept surprisingly well and by golly how about hash browns, breakfast sausage, and scrambled eggs cooked outside on the griddle? Heidi took her Mom to make an appointment, then they would be coming over to Santee Lakes so I asked that she text me when they were starting over and I would have breakfast just about ready for their arrival.
After finishing with Ma’s appointment this morning with Kaiser, Heidi texted she was on the way with Ma to visit. Time for me to start cooking! Hash Browns to start – put down a good coat of oil and let it heat first – then down go the taters.
Squirted water in and around the taters, then covered them to trap the steam. That helps them cook and keeps them from drying out. (Two absolute necessities for grilling is a squirt bottle of oil, and another of water).
Time for some breakfast sausage – lesson learned, although I had turned down the heat on that side, next time I need to turn it down further. You have to pay attention and learn as you go. Because that side was a bit too hot, timing got pretty critical and once again I didn’t have time to take a bunch of photos…
Getting there – just about time to start turning the taters.
I divided them into 3rds, having pulled the sausage, Ma wanted to get started so went ahead and put her portion of the hash browns on her plate. Note that the sausage patties are already plated up for serving – cooked way to fast – I’ll know next time.
Again, no pictures of grilling huevos, it is a fast process requiring less than a minute to cook another half dozen eggs. This was my plate – good to go! (I did put a bunch of spicy mustard all over mine).
I grilled burgers for our dinner – no pics, but they were excellent fare for a pair of hungry spring breakers…
