IC-706MkIIG temporarily out of service
This event occurred Dec 22, 2017
Heidi and I were participating in the Sandra Net – and then suddenly we were not. Had to trot to the living room where we had our “backup” VHF radio connected to the J-Pole antenna to complete the net.
Well, will take my time. Also want to do the Mars Mod on this radio and a couple of other changes. I’m afraid its going to take a spell.
It quit at mid-sentence. Reports were that it sounded like it had “slipped off of frequency”.

Update Mar 8, 2018 –
I now know far more about this radio, and have literally fallen in love with it. Have learned how to calibrate it using WWV, have installed a SSB filter and a CW Collins filter, hand-programmed all 100 memory channels in the radio, and finally installed it in the F-250. Radio checks while mobile have been *excellent* which makes this old sailor smile. 🙂
